Ashcroft Academy of Skating is dedicated to teaching fundamental skating skills and figure skating from 2-1/2 years of age and up. Ashcroft Academy of Skating is a member of Skate Canada, the oldest and largest figure skating organization in the world and the governing body for the sport of figure skating in Canada. Skate Canada goes far beyond figure skating, however. It is the largest learn-to-skate teaching organization in Canada, and is dedicated to creating a nation of skaters both recreationally and competitively.

Progression of skating programs

Our Programs

PRE-CANSkate Program:

Designed for children ages 2.5-5 who have no or very little skating ability. Pre-CanSkate is the starting point where skaters advance to the CanSkate program. Basic skills such as skating forward, backwards, turning, jumping and stopping will be taught in a group

CANSkate Program:

STAGE 1 to STAGE 6 - Balance, Control, Agility

JUNIOR ACADEMY Program:

A hybrid of our CANSkate (STAGE 4 and up) and STARSkate program. For Skaters who show an interest and ability in pursuing Figure Skating. Typically a twice a week program which includes off ice training.

Must be INVITED to join STAR Academy.

CanPower:

PowerSkate focuses on skating technique through balance, control and agility skills, to enhance the skating ability of hockey and ringette players.

STARSkate Program:

JUNIOR/INTERMEDIATE/SENIOR

Offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. Unique in Canada, this program teaches figure skating

skills in a group and or private lesson

format in a progressive and sequential

manner and includes spectically designed

awards incentives . Skaters have the

opportunity to take Skate Canada tests

through a national standardized testing

system and it includes specialized designed

awards and incentives . Skaters have the

opportunity to take Skate Canada tests

through a national system and or compete in Star Skate Competitions.

Must be INVITED to join STARSkate.

STAR Levels include:

STAR 1 to Star 10

Taught by professional coaches certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), our programs are held in a fun, safe and friendly environment that allows for unrestricted movement and rapid development.
